How to Match Customer Item Codes to WooCommerce SKUs
By PotoSales · Updated 10 October 2026 · Public release 0.3.3
Your customer calls an item PNL-30. Your store calls it AIOE-PANEL-30. Searching for the customer's code may not identify the right product, even when your catalogue already contains it.
Keep the customer's code and your SKU distinct
The two codes come from different catalogues. Renaming your store SKU for one buyer can disrupt other workflows. A customer-specific correspondence lets you retain your own catalogue while recognizing that buyer's terminology.
How to save a correspondence in version 0.3.3
- Open the extracted purchase order and select the correct saved WooCommerce customer.
- Find an unmatched line and choose Select product.
- Select the actual store product, including its specific variation when needed.
- Enable Save product mapping for the correspondence you want to retain.
- Review the order, preview it and confirm creation. In 0.3.3, this selected correspondence is saved after successful order creation.
Saving the draft alone does not save that mapping in 0.3.3. You can also maintain correspondences in product mapping management. On a later PO, review any suggested match before confirming the order.
Why the customer matters
Two buyers can use the same code for different products. Select the customer before relying on a saved correspondence. Guest orders do not save customer-specific mappings. For recurring buyers, save a proper customer profile; if no real email is available, use guest entry rather than inventing an account email.
A code match does not settle everything
Check whether a line means one unit, one box or one case. Verify size, colour and other variation attributes. The plugin does not infer pack-size conversions. A correct product match also does not guarantee that the extracted quantity or price is correct.
What if no correspondence exists?
Select the product manually for that line. Do not create a duplicate catalogue item just because the buyer uses a different name. If your catalogue genuinely lacks the product, maintain it in WooCommerce before completing the order.
